BISS is pilot school for ‘Metacognition Research Project’

The British International School Shanghai, Puxi, has joined Nord Anglia Education’s “Metacognition Research Project” as a fellow school, focusing on cultivating students’ self-awareness and independence in learning through metacognition. This initiative, implemented in 27 NAE schools worldwide, aims to integrate metacognitive approaches into teaching methodologies. Partnering with Boston College’s Lynch School of Education, BISS aims to assess the impact of their strategies on student academic achievement. A key advancement in the project is the introduction of the Learner Portfolio tool, which tracks students’ reflections and metacognitive progress, providing a comprehensive view of student development in both learner ambitions and metacognitive skills.
