Creating music without playing an instrument
British percussion group Stomp will stage an innovative and invigorating theatrical show at the city’s ET Space, using the body and ordinary objects as percussion instruments.
The group made its debut in 1991 in London and has since toured around the world.
Created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas in 1991, the performers ingeniously use sounds from everyday life to form relationships among the cast members in their shows. It also combines dance, comedy and music in a dynamic way.
Audiences will be amazed at how the tires, trash cans, brooms and Zippo lighters are used to create the explosive music. In the show, anything can be turned into a beat.
During 2000, a Sesame Street special “Let’s Make Music” was released on TV and video in North America; and in 2012, Stomp contributed to the musical segment of the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London.
