Park, Takahashi share lead

World No. 8 Park In-bee of South Korea got off to a promising start when she opened with a 4-under-par 68 to share the first-round lead with home favorite Sayaka Takahashi at the 52nd LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup in Kobe, Japan, yesterday. Park, who won the gold medal at the Rio Olympics three years ago, marked her card with five birdies and a bogey at the Cherry Hills Golf Club. Park is making her return to Japan after more than six years and was pleased with her opening round. “The key for me today was to keep the ball in the fairway. I only missed two fairways so I am happy,” said Park , who has won a total of seven major championships in her career. Takahashi led the local charge after a 68. Compatriot Nasa Hataoka, the world No. 9, was among eight players tied for third after firing a 69 while China’s Feng Shanshan posted a 72.
