Mainland tourist attempts suicide in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland traveler was hospitalized after cutting himself outside the office of the Taiwanese leader, Taiwan police said on Tuesday.

Chen Shaojun, who arrived in Taiwan with a tour group on Nov. 5, chopped himself on the head with a kitchen knife outside the Taiwan leader's office on Tuesday afternoon, shouting, "I want to die."

Chen's attempted suicide was prevented by security guards at the office.

Further investigation is under way.

TAIPEI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- A male tourist from the Chinese mainland died after falling from the second floor of Taipei's Palace Museum on Friday afternoon.

Police suspect the man did not notice the low rails behind him when he was taking photograph. He was quickly sent to a neighboring hospital but later died there due to the seriousness of his injury. Full story
