Bridge collapses in Italy's Sicily, some injured: media reports

ROME, July 7 (Xinhua) -- A road bridge collapsed early on Monday in Italy's southern Sicily Island, injuring a few people, local reports said.

Two cars plummeted down, while other cars were involved in chain accidents, according to Rai state television.

At least three people were reported to be injured, though not seriously.

Reports of the Sicilian press said the road bridge, which reaches 60 meters at the highest point, suddenly collapsed while the cars were passing.

Firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the spot, which is located near the city of Agrigento in southern Sicily. Police were investigating to find out the cause of the collapse.
