DUSHANBE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tajikistan and the United States have discussed bilateral cooperation in fighting drug trafficking, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) of Tajikistan.
DCA Director Rustam Nazarzoda and John Povelones, head of Anti-Drug Programs of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), discussed the issue when they met here on Tuesday, the press center of the DCA said.
Nazarzoda briefed the guests on the DCA's collaboration with the Afghan, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Russian law-enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking.
Nazarzoda stressed that Tajik law-enforcement agencies are currently in need of professional anti-drug personnel, especially in the area of combating "money laundering".
Povelones expressed satisfaction about the level of cooperation between the DCA and the Anti-Drug Program of U.S. CENTCOM.
The U.S. CENTCOM is a theater-level unified combatant command of the U.S. Department of Defense. Its area of responsibility covers Central Asia.
