Ochieng named as Kenya Sevens coach, replaces Treu

NAIROBI, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Kenya on Wednesday appointed Felix Ochieng, for the second time in as many years, to take over the Sevens team.

Kenya Ruby Union (KRU) Secretary Eddie Omondi confirmed that Ochieng will replace Paul Treu, who resigned at the weekend after the Port Elizabeth World Sevens series in South Africa.

Apart from Ochieng the rest of the technical bench remains the same as Vuyo Zanga was retained as assistant coach with Graham Bentz remaining as the attack coach.

"It is a humble gesture KRU have shown in appointing me coach. We will try and fix the teams problems," Ochieng said.

Ochieng was named to the position after a KRU board meeting on Tuesday and it comes a surprise as chairman Mwangi Muthee had strongly hinted that they will name a foreign coach for the position.
