Security forum GLOBSEC 2016 to focus on terrorism, migration and Brexit

BRATISLAVA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Terrorist threats in Europe, the Middle East situation, preparations for the July NATO summit in Warsaw, migration crisis, Ukraine-Russia ties and "Brexit" will dominate the agenda of international security forum GLOBSEC 2016 set for April 15-17 in Bratislava, it was announced Friday.

"After terror attacks in Paris and Brussels, the terrorist threats in Europe is a topic that is dealt with by almost every European and non-European country," said Robert Vass, founder of GLOBSEC, on Friday.

According to Vass, this year's conference will also feature representatives from countries outside Europe, such as Jordanian Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Judeh or representatives of the Japanese and Indian foreign ministries.

"Jordan is a small country that has admitted more than two million refugees and is in the centre of a war zone," added Vass.

Presidents of Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as well as Slovak and Czech prime ministers have already promised to attend the event.

Among the main speakers are former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen. Vass said that NATO Deputy Secretary-General Alexander Vershbow and NATO Military Committee Chief Petr Pavel will take part in the conference as well.
