Azerbaijan denies reports of wounding two Armenian soldiers

BAKU, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry on Monday denied reports of two Armenian soldiers being wounded by Azerbaijani armed forces.

The Armenian Defense Ministry had said that the Azerbaijani side had wounded two Armenian soldiers in the northern direction of the line of contact.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denied the allegation and said that over the past day Azerbaijani armed forces have not conducted any operations on the line of contact.

"Over the past day the Armenian Armed Forces continued to shatter cease-fire and the Azerbaijani army fired retaliatory shots at Armenian positions," it added.

"As it was revealed, wounding of two Armenian soldiers occurred due to the lack of discipline in Armenian army," the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry said.

Heavy fighting broke out on April 2 between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The clash lasted several days and left more than 70 soldiers dead on both sides before a cease-fire was agreed in Moscow on April 5.
