French move on distributor of spare parts
French carmaker Groupe PSA announced yesterday that it has acquired shares in Chinese automotive spare parts distributor UAP Auto Union, as the company aims to enhance its position in the after-sales market in China.
Christophe Musy, senior vice president of PSA aftermarket said: “China will soon be the world’s biggest after-sales market, and we have set ourselves very high ambitions, which is why we’re already securing strong market positions.”
Groupe PSA said UAP will strongly contribute to the expansion of the automaker’s repair services network as it has a strong customer base.
UAP is a spare parts distributor in Shandong Province, with more than 150 stores with delivery service for spare parts.
In addition, Groupe PSA said that it expects to further grow its repair and maintenance services with its brand Euro Repar Car Service in China.
Carlos Gomes, chief executive officer of Groupe PSA China & Southeast Asia, said it has already set up a team for the service in China.
