No purchase tax for new energy autos
NEW energy cars in China will be exempt from vehicle purchase taxes starting from September as the country steps up its efforts to promote environment-friendly mobility to cut energy consumption and control air pollution, Premier Li Keqiang said at a State Council meeting yesterday.
From September 1 this year until the end of 2017, all purely electric cars, plug-in hybrids, and fuel-cell vehicles sold in China, whether locally produced or imported, will be spared the vehicle purchase taxes, which are charged at 10 percent of a car’s retail price.
