Volvo plant in Daqing

SWEDISH car maker Volvo, which was acquired by China's Geely Holding Group last year, will build its second plant in Daqing, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

According to a review report from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the new plant covers an area of 84 hectares and involves a total investment of 4.6 billion yuan (US$711 million).

It will have an annual production of 40,000 units of Volvo's XC60 sport-utility vehicle and 10,000 multi-purpose vehicles when trial operation commences in 2013.
