Hot pot restaurants first choice for eating out
CHINESE people visit fast food eateries an average of three times a week, with foreign brands occupying four places on the top-10 most popular list, according to a poll released yesterday.
The most frequented chain is Haidilao, which sells hot pot, followed by Pizza Hut and Little Sheep — also hot pot — according to OC&C Strategy Consultants, which polled 2,600 people in 21 cities on China’s mainland.
The top-10 list also included McDonald’s, TGI Friday’s and KFC, the poll said, adding that food quality and good service ranked higher than price and convenience.
Eighty percent of those polled who claimed to have a monthly income of more than 20,000 yuan (US$3,050) said they like to go to new restaurants.
The arrival of foreign chains has made the market more competitive, the poll said.
