Quebec premier leads delegation to China

CANADA’S Quebec is actively seeking opportunities to cooperate with China in such sectors as information industry, communications, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, green technology, and infrastructures, its premier said today in Shanghai.
Philippe Couillard, Premier of Quebec, started his first China visit in Shanghai, and the delegation of 140-plus members is so far the largest in bilateral communications between Quebec and Shanghai, covering industries in life sciences, information technology and green energy.
At a conference today, Couillard invited Chinese investors to participate in the Plan Nord, an economic plan to develop Quebec’s vast northern areas, and highlighted business opportunities in natural resources and cultural communications.
Montreal, Quebec’s largest city and Canada’s second largest city, became Shanghai’s sister city in 1985, and Quebec became a sister city of Shanghai at the provincial level in 2011.
Couiallard said that he was interested in considering the possibility to set up brand promotion centers for Quebec’s middle and small sized enterprises in China, a measure that has been taken by the US, Germany and France.
