US and EU dumped solvents in China

THE Ministry of Commerce yesterday preliminarily ruled the United States and the European Union have dumped ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether on the Chinese market.

"During the investigation period of the case, Chinese producers of ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether have suffered material injuries," the ministry said in a circular.

The dumping practices of the US and the EU and the material injuries have a causal link, it said.

The ministry said it will require cash deposits as anti-dumping measures.

From today, Chinese importers of the products should provide cash deposits to the Chinese customs authority based on the decided dumping margins of different companies.

The dumping margins ranged from 9.3 percent to 18.8 percent, according to the circular.

The commerce ministry initiated the anti-dumping probes on November 18.
