Partners to push for green finance

THE United Nations Environment Program and Alibaba’s financial affiliate Ant Financial Services Group said yesterday they will promote green finance and environmental protection initiatives.
The partners agreed in a memorandum of understanding to encourage digital green finance through Alipay’s user base of more than 450 million real-name users in China’s mainland.
Alipay will also enlist the help of UNEP to form an alliance with leading fintech companies to promote inclusive finance to allow financial services to be accessible to grassroot consumers.
The UNEP will also share environmental best practices and environmental protection know-how from other nations as well as promote global coalitions to promote green finance.
