US dollar credit card
BANK of East Asia (China) Ltd yesterday issued a US dollar-backed credit card as the first overseas bank to issue such cards on Chinese mainland.
The bank started issuing yuan-denominated credit cards as the first overseas bank to do so on the mainland in 2008. Zhang Shaofeng, general manager of the bank's personal banking division, said he didn't expect the credit card to make profit but as a necessary service to complete the bank's retail banking service line.
