MSD taps growing demand
MSD China yesterday unveiled a US$120 million plant, set to be the largest facility in Asia-Pacific for its US parent, in Hangzhou as the drug company taps the growing demand in China.
The new plant, located in the Hangzhou Economic & Technological Development Area, has the most up-to-date facilities such as 16 high speed production lines and has an estimated capacity to make 300 million packs annually.
"The new Hangzhou plant marks another milestone for MSD and we're seeking to bring more innovative medicines and vaccines to China," said Pam Cheng, president of MSD China.
MSD has over 90 factories worldwide and the Hangzhou plant will play a key role in the firm's global manufacturing chain.
The new plant will join an integrated, interdependent network of 72 MSD factories that supply medicines and vaccines to more than 140 countries worldwide.
