Beijing officials bare asset details
OFFICIALS above division level in Beijing and at some state ministries and commissions are declaring their housing and property assets as per requirements of the country’s official property declaration system, which is aimed at preventing corruption, 21st Century Business Herald reported yesterday.
Government officials in Beijing have already started doing so, Li Shixiang, executive vice mayor of the capital, told media earlier this month, including himself on the list. Beijing is currently studying elaborate plans for execution of its official property declaration system which covers detailed information, including the size of the house, its location and whether it belongs to officials themselves or their families, Li added.
Meanwhile, in certain areas of Beijing such as Huilongguan, Wangjing and Songjiazhuang, a surfeit of homes with an obviously cheap price tag have been unloaded recently onto the market as owners rush to dump their properties, major estate chains in Beijing, including Home Link and Centaline Property, confirmed to the newspaper.
“It’s possible that the country’s planned real property registration system may be one of the reasons behind the current scenario,” said Zhang Xu, a Home Link analyst.
Under a 2014-2020 urbanization plan which was unveiled on Sunday, a unified and land-based real property registration system will be established in China by 2020 when individuals’ housing information can be checked and shared among different government departments.
