Sluggish Sales Of New Homes On High Prices
SALES of new homes in Shanghai continued to be sluggish last week as housing prices remained high.
New home sales, excluding those of affordable housing, fell 1.7 percent from a week earlier to 134,900 square meters while the average price dipped 0.2 percent to 22,313 yuan (US$3,492) per square meter, according to a research released yesterday by Shanghai Deovolente Realty Co.
Last week's data compared with the weekly average transaction volume of 150,300 square meters and the weekly average sale price of 21,965 yuan per square meter registered so far this year.
Sales of luxury homes that cost more than 50,000 yuan per square meter declined 15.2 percent from a week earlier to 6,700 square meters, the data showed.
