Projects benefiting from cooperation

The mCube Sci-tech (Shanghai) Co Ltd’s current research and development project of the world’s smallest motion sensor product is at the stage of chip test in Jiading and package test in Nantong City in neighboring Jiangsu Province.

“Jiading and Nantong have reached the top level in China in their respective fields. Such cooperation can combine both strengths and effectively promote R&D and production of projects,” said Xie Ping who in charge of the company.

The concept of cross-regional collaboration has almost become the consensus of integrated circuit enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta. The delta region is the birthplace and technological base of China’s Internet of Things technology, and more than half of the country’s integrated circuit enterprises are there.

Jiading’s National Intelligent Sensor Innovation Center, Wuxi’s National Innovation Center of Integrated Circuit Characteristic Processing, Packaging and Testing, Hangzhou’s New Storage R&D Platform, the National Key Laboratory of Spin Electronics which is under construction, Hefei’s High-performance Computing Platform and other national innovation platforms have realized the integrated industrial development of IoT-related fields.

As part of the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, Jiading has joined with Wuxi, Hangzhou and Hefei to cooperate with Internet of Things giant Cethik, a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned firm China Electronics Technology Group, to build a super R&D Pilot testing center for sensor, storage and chip integration.

From the perspective of the future development of semiconductor devices, the three-in-one integration of sensor, storage and chip has many advantages, such as improving integration levels, saving power and reducing costs.

At present, the super R&D pilot testing center is combining and integrating the existing pilot equipment resources of four core innovation platforms. So far, 276 kinds of pilot equipment have been gathered.

The value of the center’s equipment has reached 5 billion yuan (US$740 million). In the future, the super pilot test center will continue to add more facilities and introduce the equipment of other cities in the Yangtze delta so as to build the region into a highland for the Internet of Things.
