Minhang launched a waste-recycling and garbage-sorting program on March 5, to observe the “Learn from Lei Feng Day.” The selfless soldier is held up as a national symbol of patriotism and service to country. A volunteer’s month to be held in primary schools also kicked off at the event, which included rap singers. Cold, wet weather didn’t keep down the numbers of people donating blood on that day.
