Better legal services and protection for businesses

PUTUO District has been optimizing its business environment by cracking down on intellectual property rights infringements and offering better legal services to enterprises.

The district’s politics and law committee aims to provide legal protection for Putuo’s business environment. The politics and law departments of the Putuo government have been integrated to focus on institutional research and improvement.

According to an evaluation report on Putuo’s rule of law business environment in 2018 released on September 18, 90 percent of the companies based in Putuo were satisfied with the district’s legal and business environment.

The crackdown on gang crime also helps to improve the legal and business environment, said the report.

Xue Baoping, deputy Party secretary of the committee, said it had released a government guideline to establish a legal system for the business environment and support the development of private businesses in Putuo in September.

The guideline includes 15 suggestions on law enforcement, trials of civil and commercial cases, criminal case handling, the protection of intellectual property rights as well as strict enforcement of judicial standards.

The suggestions also focus on the satisfaction and demands of companies, Xue said. An online case registration system has been promoted for the convenience of companies. The system has helped to improve the efficiency of lawsuits and largely reduce the impact on the normal operation of the companies.

In one of the latest measures, the Law School of East China Normal University and the Putuo Law Society signed a cooperation agreement on September 18 under the guidance of the committee. They will jointly establish a research center for the legalization of the business environment, a research base for the construction of rule of law, along with an internship base of the university.

Both sides will help to optimize the business environment of Putuo, establish a rule of law government as well as train high-end legal professionals, according to the agreement.

In recent years, the Putuo District Procuratorate has handled a number of IPR infringement cases, such as for the popular online game “Mystical Card” and online selling of fake Dulux paints.

The Putuo Public Security Bureau has also developed a special module to crack down on frequent traffic violations by meal delivery riders.
