Full credit given to industrial upgrading
Songjiang earned full credit and ranked first among the 10 assessed districts in the 2018 Shanghai Industrial Restructuring Appraisal, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.
The district completed 355 industrial restructuring projects last year with the reallocated land and factory area amounting to 2,407.4 and 1,539.6 square kilometers respectively.
Of that total, 13 square kilometers of idled factory area in Sheshan Town was used as a temporary office for genetically edited cloned monkey research by the Institute of Neuroscience of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The site was also where the institute held its results conference to declare the success of the research.
In Shihudang Town, about 10 square kilometers of stock factory area of a former switch company was reallocated to Roeslein & Associates Mechanical Engineering (Shanghai) Co for it to expand its production capacity in China.
“In the next phase, Songjiang District Economy Commission will keep on working with various communities and industrial development zones to reallocate idled or stock land and introduce high-quality industrial projects so as to serve well the G60 High-tech Corridor development and industrial upgrade of Songjiang,” said a commission official.
