Ink and wash art tour exhibition sets up shop in Songjiang
A touring ink and wash art exhibition, called City Coordinate, opened at the Fangsong Subdistrict Community Cultural Activity Center at 1077 Beicui Road in Songjiang District on September 1.
The Shanghai stop of the exhibition is organized by the suburban district’s culture and tourism bureau, the Xianhe Art Museum, Haishangmohui, the legal person of the Shanghai Cuitong Artstudio and other companies.
More than 30 artists from different places, such as Bi Keyan from Shandong Province, Dong Jinjin from Sichuan Province and Li Zhimi from Shanghai, are bringing their artworks to the exhibition to display their cities’ stories.
Cui Tianqi, chief curator of the exhibition, said that a city can separate the earth with special cultures, appearances and characteristics. So does time. Different times have different meanings and emotions.
A city is one of the important carriers of stories, which have the power to support human beings to fight against nature, reproduce and develop. Various people have diverse stories during different eras.
“We want to use ‘city’ as the keynote and combine the artists’ personalized memories and emotions to show the different visual and emotional experiences to the audiences,” Cui said.
The Shanghai leg of the exhibition will run through September 29. It has been held in many cities, including Chengdu in Sichuan Province, Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province and Lanzhou in Gansu Province, since last year.
