Kodaline’s blistering blend rocks into town

Irish band Kodaline is bringing its blistering blend of rock to Shanghai next month.

The four-piece band, made up of Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vincent May and Jason Boland, have released three studio albums, “In a Perfect World” (2013), “Coming Up of Air” (2015) and the “Politics of Living” (2018).

Garrigan and Prendergast grew up together in Dublin, where they participated in a “Battle of the Bands” contest.

The concept saw two or more bands compete for the title of “Best Band.” May then became the third member of the group followed by Boland in 2012.

The band first came to their native country’s attention in November, 2006, when they were originally known as “21 Demands.”

They played on the 5th series of RTÉ, a semi-state company and the national public service broadcaster of Ireland, talent show “You’re a Star” and finished as the series’ runners-up.

In March 2007, they released a single “Give Me a Minute,” which topped the Irish singles chart and became the first independently released track to achieve this feat.

In September 2012, the quartet released their debut extended play “The Kodaline EP” and adopted their current name. The song “All I Want,” on their debut album, featured in season 5, episode 10 of “The Vampire Diaries.”

In 2014, the song was released as part of “The Fault in Out Stars” film soundtrack and the single has been viewed over 99 million times on YouTube.

In 2014, Kodaline continued to make headlines when they scooped a European Border Breakers Award.

On their new album “Politics of Living,” band members cooperated with several famed producers, such as Steve Mac (producer of Ed Sheeran), Johnny Coffer (producer of Beyoncé) and Johnny McDaid (producer of P!NK).

Kodaline’s world tour kicked off in the summer of 2018 and they have so far performed in Europe, North America and Asia. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a great night.
