Single travelers prefer long-distance holidays

Chengdu, Dali, Xiamen, Lijiang and Lhasa were some of the most popular domestic destinations among Chinese tourists who travel alone, a report by travel review website Mafengwo revealed. Single travelers prefer medium and long-distance destinations more than other travelers, and destinations like Dali and Lhasa are favored by them, the report said. Overseas, Sri Lanka, Australia, Cambodia and Nepal are on the list.
Average tourism spending was 12 to 20 percent higher for tourists traveling alone than other travelers due to higher accommodation and transportation fees, and many experienced single travelers use ride sharing and youth hostels to reduce cost, Mafengwo said.
