Belt and Road Film Week kicks off

As part of the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Belt and Road Film Week kicked off at the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone on Sunday, with 24 films on show.

At the opening ceremony, 16 production firms signed agreements with the tourism zone in Pudong to set up bases there. Among these companies were Illumina, maker of “Wolf Warrior” series, More VFX, involved in “The Wandering Earth,” and Base FX which helped out in “Transformers” and “Avengers: Infinity War.” Pudong has set up a 100-million-yuan (US$14.4 million) fund to support filmmaking.

A total of 1,875 movies from 53 countries and regions along the Belt and Road are taking part in the festival.
