Festival offers taste of the world at home

The Shanghai Global Cuisine Festival, part of Quality Life Week, was officially launched at LuOne shopping mall on Saturday.

On-site activities end today, but discounts and promotions for more than 2,000 restaurants will last until the end of June.

On Saturday, 10 exotic restaurants, including Coldock from the United States, New Zealand-themed Kiwi Anna and PRIMO 1 from Italy, held cooking shows.

There were also 10 well-established Chinese restaurant brands representing Shanghai, Cantonese and Beijing cuisines, such as Lu Bo Lang, Kung Tak Lam and Sunya Cantonese Restaurant.

According to statistics from the Shanghai Business Information Center, more than 2,000 foreign restaurants of over 300 catering brands from 42 different countries and regions are participating in the festival, offering various discounts.

More than 300 restaurants are offering discounts of more than 45 percent.

PRIMO 1 has launched a 45 percent discount for the set menus for two people; Reve Kitchen from France is also giving a 45 percent discount for foie gras with French black fungus and a spiced sauce.

The event will cover hot spots where expats often hang out, such as Xintiandi, Lujiazui and Hongqiao.

Consumers can taste the delicacies of six continents without leaving Shanghai, boosting food consumption.

It is directed by the Shanghai Commission of Commerce, sponsored by the Shanghai Food and Beverage Industry Association, undertaken by the Shanghai Business Information Centre and co-organized by Alibaba Local Life.
