No-show Nicki confuses, frustrates fans
Nicki Minaj’s refusal to take the stage at Shanghai’s DWP Festival last weekend left many fans sad, angry and confused.
Event organizers have promised to refund all full-price tickets bought through official channels.
Minaj, who was supposed to be headlining on Sunday night, with a 90-minute set, did not perform, even though she showed up.
No official reason has been given why she didn’t take the stage.
Time Out has suggested that she had been misled about the event. Expecting a crowd of 8,000, there were actually only around 1,000 in the audience.
There are also rumors of issues with payment.
Minaj released a video apologizing to fans and promising to return to Shanghai with “a better partner.”
Fans, some of whom had waited several hours to see the performance were left confused and frustrated.
DWP China released a statement yesterday, regarding their refund policy.
The statement criticized Minaj for refusing to perform without good reason, and announced a full refund for tickets bought through Damai, Maoyan, 247tickets and Yongle tickets.
Attendees should keep their physical ticket and supply proof of purchase including their name, ID number, phone number and booking number.
Refunds will be processed on November 26 – 28, 10am-5pm.
