Unleashing the power of the dog app
Shanghai residents will soon be able to register their pet dogs and make appointments to vaccinate them via a mobile app, police said yesterday.
The app will also contain a map on which pet owners can search for government pet management agencies and veterinary clinics.
It will be possible to collect points by using the app and be rewarded, an attempt to encourage people to keep their pets legal, police said.
The app is still in the development stage with no date yet set for its release.
There are over 180,000 registered pet dogs in Shanghai. Police received more than 10,000 complaints regarding dogs in the first nine months this year. About 3,100 of them were about pet dogs that were not registered.
In Shanghai, the police are in charge of registering pet dogs and responsible for providing public shelters for strays.
