Mets to sign Ramos
The New York Mets and free-agent catcher Wilson Ramos have agreed to a deal, pending a physical, according to multiple reports on Sunday. Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports said it was a two-year agreement. Financial terms haven’t been disclosed. The Mets have been pursuing a catcher this offseason and had been trying to acquire JT Realmuto from the Miami Marlins. The Tampa Bay Rays sent Ramos, a two-time All-Star, to the Philadelphia Phillies at the trade deadline in July. Between the two teams, Ramos hit .306 with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs. He threw out 29 percent of runners attempting to steal in 2018 but holds a career percentage of 32 percent. The 31-year-old Ramos has batted .273 with 109 homers and 426 RBIs in 760 career games in nine seasons with the Minnesota Twins, Washington Nationals, the Rays and the Phillies.
