O’s turning to Cubs’ Hyde

The Baltimore Orioles are expected to name Chicago Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde as their next manager, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. On hand at the MLB winter meetings, new Orioles general manager Mike Elias called the reports “premature” and said the team hadn’t yet offered the job to anyone, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com. Hyde, 45, became the Cubs’ bench coach last season after previously serving as first base coach on Joe Maddon’s staff. The Orioles parted ways with former skipper Buck Showalter and executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette after a franchise-worst record of 47-115 in 2018.
