Liu shoots career best

Liu Wenbo served notice on Wednesday that she is out to reclaim her Zhangjiang Shuangshan Challenge crown as the Chinese teenager opened with a blistering 8-under 64 in Jiangsu Province. The second-year pro, who won the tournament as an amateur in 2017 and finished runner-up last year, carded a bogey-free round at Shuangshan Golf Club to sit two shots clear of compatriot Liu Yan at the 500,000-yuan China LPGA Tour event. Thailand’s Aunchisa Utama shot 68 over the Nelson and Haworth-designed course 90 minutes northwest of Wuxi to sit equal third with China’s Zhao Zhimeng and Ren Yue. Du Mohan, the winner in Zhuhai last week, was five shots back in a group of seven players tied for equal sixth after a 69.
