F1 to hit 1,000-race milestone at 2019 Chinese GP

The 2019 Chinese Grand Prix will become the 1,000th race in Formula One history, with ticket sales for the April motorsport gala already kicking off, organizers said.

The race has been scheduled for April 12-14 at the Shanghai International Circuit in suburban Jiading District. It will also serve as the third race of the 2019 calendar following the races in Australia (March 17) and Bahrain (March 31).

First held in 2004, the F1 Chinese Grand Prix is entering its 15th year. Local organizer Juss Event said it was a recognition for China and a ringing endorsement of its market that the motor world’s most premier circuit will hold its 1,000th race in Shanghai.

Ticket sales for the mega event have started, with package and discount tickets on offer.

Fans holding two-day weekend tickets, which cover stands A, H, K, B, J, L and F, can watch the Friday practice sessions for free. Parents taking children aged between 3 to 16 to the circuit can enjoy family ticket discounts.

Organizers plan to introduce 1,000 sets of “1,000th GP limited edition” ticket packages at the end of January. Each package includes a main stand ticket and a visiting pass to the paddock area. Fans can log on to www.jusstickets.com to buy tickets.

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo of Australia won the 2018 race, finishing ahead of Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas of Finland and another Finn, Kimi Raikkonen, driving a Ferrari.
