Juve women record crowd
Juventus Women attracted a crowd of 39,000, a record for a women’s soccer match in Italy, when they played at the Turin club’s Allianz Stadium for the first time on Sunday. The crowd, nearly three times the previous record of 14,000 set in 2008, saw leader Juventus beat second-placed Fiorentina 1-0 with a late goal from Sofie Junge Pedersen to put it on the brink of winning the title. Tickets were free although they had to be reserved beforehand. Defending champions Juventus is four points clear at the top of the 12-team table with three matches to play. A total of 60,739 people were present at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium last Sunday as the home team lost 0-2 to Barcelona in a women’s game. In January, Athletic Bilbao said it set a European club record when 48,121 spectators attended a Spanish Cup match against Atletico Madrid at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
