Didi offers Hitch for carpooling
Didi is offering a trial Hitch service for corporate customers so that employees can share rides.
The service is available in 17 cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing and Taiyuan, where Hitch was restored last year under tightened safety rules.
Drivers and riders can share their routes with coworkers to help reduce the use of public transport.
They can book rides between 5am and 11pm.
New safety rules for Hitch rides include a one-click police emergency call button and minimized display of personal information.
Special protections for female riders and drivers have been put in place following the murder of two women passengers by Didi Hitch drivers in 2018.
Rides between cities have been suspended due to the outbreak. Didi stressed drivers and passengers must wear masks and report their health information.
