US$286m smart plant for Lenovo
Lenovo Group Ltd broke ground on a 2-billion-yuan (US$286-million) factory in Shenzhen yesterday as the computer giant’s South China smart-manufacturing headquarters.
The new plant underscores China’s efforts to speed up the recovery of production and capacity during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The 280,000-square-meter factory will produce computers, servers and other smart devices, which will be sold to 170 countries and regions globally, said China’s biggest computer maker.
Within three years, the plant will have capacity of 15 million laptops annually with total output of 40 billion yuan with the whole industry chain contribution. The factory is adopting the latest smart manufacturing methods and devices, said Lenovo.
