The Taxi Council may be forced to admit defeat in its battle against ride-booking services, which it believes will be legalised in Queensland.
The Palaszczuk Government is yet to release its taxi industry review, but the Taxi Council believes the Government will choose the option to green-light Uber with extra regulations.
The Taxi Council's Lane Gardner said he believed one of the regulations would require Uber drivers to have a blue card.
"We think this is going to happen," he said.
Taxi Council representatives will meet with the Government today to discuss their concerns.
"This [Uber] might be a little bit cheaper, but at the end of the day, is it any safer?" Mr Gardner said.
"There's no cameras in the cars, there's no audio in the cars.
"The person who picks up their daughter or their wife, can turn their phone off and there's no tracking in the car."
Government must release review today: Opposition
The State Opposition's transport spokesman, Andrew Powell, said the Government must release the taxi industry review today.
"This has gone on for long enough," he said.
"The Government needs to end this kind of speculation, it needs to provide certainty, it needs to release the report and its Government response.
"We want to see the detail that sits behind the final Government position and what the Government intends to do in terms of introducing laws into Parliament."
The RACQ's Paul Turner said ride-booking services should be legalised, with taxis having exclusive access to "rank and hail" services.
"We think that's the best option," he said.
"We need to get ride-sharing regulated so that we get safe drivers and safe cars, and government plays a role in that while also keeping costs down for consumers."
The State Government has been contacted for comment.
