Online exposure for female exhibitionist
A YOUNG woman who exposes herself to late-night revellers in downtown is being sought by police.
Photographs of a naked woman striking sexy poses in Hengshan Road were posted online recently, attracting widespread attention — including that of Shanghai police.
The woman, at first wearing a thin cardigan, is pictured stripping in front of passers-by on the bar street.
Some web users speculated that she was drunk and had the pictures taken for a dare.
But soon afterwards, two sets of photographs of a nude woman at Xintiandi and the Bund were posted online.
Dressed in a blue dress in one set and in a black strapless dress in the other, the woman is pictured lifting her dress to the camera and passers-by.
Many web users believe it is the same woman in each case.
The sets of photographs have triggered online debate, with some web users saying the woman is damaging morals.
There was also speculation about her motives — including performance art, commercial or exhibitionism.
“She might be hired by a pornographic website to attract public attention as a promotion,” one web user told Shanghai Daily, “Or she might be an exhibitionist.”
Zhao Zhiyun, a local psychologist, said it was likely to be behavior indicating a lack of social cognition — a strong desire to show off without being constrained by social restrictions.
Network security police are investigating the source of the photographs.
