Fresh fruit journey

Shangyu County in neighboring Zhejiang Province, between Hangzhou and Ningbo, will create five “fresh fruit journey” routes stringing fruit picking bases, farms, countryside, orchids, minsu (the Chinese version of bed-and-breakfast accommodation) and tourist attractions by 2020.
The waxberry boulevard in the east of Shangyu will connect four villages and towns, 14 picking bases and five attractions, while another grape boulevard is designed to link five picking bases, three villages and towns and three scenic spots.
The environment and temperature in Shangyu is suitable for a rich array of fruits.
Crops include strawberries and cherries in spring, waxberries and grapes in summer, kiwis and peaches in autumn and persimmons in winter.
It will also form 10 leisure resorts and 12 B&B clusters by 2020. Shangyu boasts a number of scenic spots such as Fuzhi Mountain, Chenxi Town, Fengming Mountain and Cao’e Temple, as well as 56 starred picking bases.
