Ancient Grotto Reproduced

Program Code:0909346131005002 Source: Wenhui Daily Ancient grottoes in Kuche County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are treasured for their Buddhist murals and statues. A project was carried out in 2010 by Shanghai and Xinjiang scientists to preserve these grottoes. They used digital technology to scan the interior of one of the grottoes and created a replica of the grotto using 3-D printing. In March 2012, the crew shipped the replica, 4 meters high and 80 square meters in size, to Shanghai and copied murals on its walls. The whole project was completed in July 2012.
