Program Code: 09093461705170022
A video of a woman trying an auto accident scam on May 9 in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, has been widely shared on social media.
Dash-cam footage shows the woman running out and dropping to the ground before the car is anywhere near her.
When the driver backed away to avoid hitting her, the woman ran after the car and pretended to fall down again as if she had been hit. She did this several times.
The woman eventually just ran away and the car continued on its way.
Netizens admired woman's acting skill. The local public security bureau unveiled the truth behind the incident on its Weibo account on May 17.
The woman is a local resident who suffers intermittent psychotic problems, police said, adding she was suffering an episode that day.
Community cadres and security guard stopped her behavior so nobody was injured and the car was not damaged in the incident. The patient was taken away by her husband for further treatment.
