A babysitter in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, has caused shock and outrage across the Internet after surveillance video showed her slapping a baby boy and forcing him to eat rice paste.
The baby’s parents were shocked when they saw the video around 6pm on March 18 and have lodged a police report.
The baby was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia after his parents rushed him to the hospital. The case is under investigation.
They hired the babysitter from Jiangxi Province, surnamed Zhou, to take care of their son, who is just over a year old, when they were not at home after the Spring Festival.
They installed a monitor at home as they felt worried about leaving the babysitter alone with their son.
In the video, Zhou seems angry and slaps the baby after the he spat rice paste onto the table when she fed him. She forced the baby to eat by raising his head and pinching his nose.
Confronted with the parents at the babysitting agency, Zhou said she was in a bad mood.
