A young man was detained for five days by police in Shanghai after he imitated taking drugs during a live online broadcast on October 25.
The man, surnamed Wang, appeared to consume narcotics twice during the live video. Police took notice of the man’s actions and brought him to a police station for a urine test, local media reported. The test results reportedly indicated that Wang was not a drug user.
Wang described himself as a model who makes live broadcasts in his spare time. He said he mimicked taking drugs in order to attract viewers.
Police warned all Internet users to abide by the law, and to speak and act cautiously online.
