University Student Attempts to Kick 4-year-old Girl in Restaurant
Program Code: 09093461705160021
An online video unveiled the truth behind a mother’s claim that her four-year-old daughter was kicked by a university student at a restaurant in Dalian.
She has posted photos to support her allegation of the incident that happened in Olympia 66 on May 12.
The woman, surnamed Song, said her daughter was kicked twice after she shouted out suddenly when playing hide-and-seek with another kid which affected the female student's dinner with her boyfriend.
Her post soon attracted the attention of Chinese netizens, who roundly criticized the student for her behavior. Some netizens said the mother should have disciplined her child better.
But then a news program broadcast the full video of the incident on May 15.
In the video, the child can be seen hiding behind a chair and squatting. Then the student with a denim jacket, left her seat and kicked the chair where the girl was hiding.
Song, the woman in black, then fought with the student. Although her daughter was not hurt, Song was very angry and posted about the incident.
Song said they were separated by restaurant staff and taken away by police later. But the TV footage shows Song beat a restaurant worker who tried to stop the fight and threw objects, including a cup, at the student.
Before the student left the restaurant with her boyfriend, she also threw something at Song's friend and two kids.
Angered again, Song ran to chase the student but was stopped by a staffer who also became impatient and beat Song.
The university student, surnamed Fan, apologized for her behavior in an interview, but said she had reacted that way because a relative had once been startled by a disruption in a restaurant and had almost ended up in hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
