A female postgraduate student at the Shanghai University of Sport was beaten by a classmate after she disagreed with his point of view in class on January 2.
The woman said that when the man saw her at the canteen after class, he followed her and then beat her on campus.
As the footage shows, the male student slapped the back of the woman’s head, causing her to fall to the ground.
He then continued the violence as he kicked her twice.
They argued for a while and then the man brutally kicked the woman again before leaving.
The woman said that before the incident happened, they hadn’t had any dispute in private and hadn’t even talked with each other.
After the video went viral online, the university posted a statement on Weibo on January 6, saying a comprehensive medical check found the woman was not severely injured, and the man had apologized to her at the hospital. They also said they would handle the case according to school regulations after further investigation.
