149 business incubators now operating in Shanghai

Shanghai has had 149 business incubators carrying over 7,000 enterprises with over 8,000 employees, officials from Shanghai Technology Innovation Center told an international workshop on business incubation in Shanghai today.

Over 20 professionals involving in incubator management and technology innovation from seven countries participated the workshop.

Shanghai started to do business incubation in 1988 and has established a unique and effective system to support the development of young and small enterprises, said Zhu Zhenghong, director of Shanghai Technology Innovation Center.

“With support of World Bank and national and local science authority, we have organized this international workshop for years to learn from developed countries and spread our experiences to other developing countries,” he said.
