Asian business aviation show to open in Shanghai

ABOUT 170 of the world’s top business aircraft makers and operators will participate in a major aviation event to open in Shanghai tomorrow as they aim to tap the soaring demand among Chinese for business and private jets.

China has become the world’s major business jet market, Brazilian manufacturer Embraer said at a preview of the Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition today.

Manufacturers, including Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier, will display 35 planes at the exhibition.

Last year, Shanghai’s two airports handled 6,136 business jets, up 10 percent in 2015, according to the Shanghai Airport Authority.

To meet rising demand, the airport authority will build a new hanger facility for business jets at Hongqiao airport by April 2018, the authority said today.

The three-day event is held at the Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Center at the Hongqiao International Airport.
