Best of BenCham gets presented in Shanghai

BUSINESSES from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg have performed better than expected in the past year in China, especially in high-tech, healthcare and software sectors, despite of fiercer competition, said representatives at the Best of BenCham 2016 Award Ceremony.

“This year, BenCham member corporations face both opportunities and challenges when they running business in China,” said Mariet Elshof, general manager of BenCham Shanghai, at the event held in Shanghai yesterday.

The ceremony announced the winners of three awards: Belgian premium chocolate brand Godiva won KBC Best Company Award and leading provider of marketing solutions Webpower won De Wolf Best Team Award. Shanghai-based Dutch painter Peter Riezebos won the Rising Star Award.

“Some of our member corporations have really outstanding performance, especially in the high-tech, healthcare and software sectors. We really focus on innovation and it is our key developing goal this year,” Elshof said.

“We notice that some firms really understand Chinese and Asian markets. They work with Chinese clients closely and get insights from them so they perform well in 2016. Small enterprises also had strong performance. These companies bring certain technology to China and want to find partners here such as finance and sales distribution,” Elshof said.

Competition in China also gets harder and harder. Companies need to compete with both global and domestic firms,” Elshof added.

Organized by Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, Best of BenCham is an annual event of BenCham to introduce the successes and accomplishments of Benelux companies doing business in China.

Benelux Chamber of Commerce is a member driven-organization which is officially recognized and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in China.
